Another Place, The Machrie
Another Place, The Machrie
Facing the Atlantic, with unbroken views of dunes, sea and sky, lies Another Place, The Machrie on the Isle of Islay. A contemporary hotel with 43 beautifully designed rooms, suites and family lodges, a world-class golf links, restaurant, outside sauna and hot tub garden, treatment rooms, fat bikes, 1891 games room, screening room and modern art collection.
Just a 45-minute flight from Glasgow or two hours by ferry from Kennacraig, The Machrie is a remote yet accessible escape set amongst an unspoilt coastal Hebridean landscape.
Set on rolling dunes overlooking the Atlantic, The Machrie has an internationally renowned reputation for its championship links course, drawing players from around the globe - currently ranked 78 in Golf World’s Top 100 best courses in the world. An original Willie Campbell design dating back to 1891 and redesigned in 2018 by David J. Russell to modern championship standards, this course is now designed to be played in all conditions. The new 19-hole social putting course ‘The Hebrides’ offers a more fun and accessible game, as well as a six-hole par-3 ‘Wee course’ and covered driving range. All open to guests and non-residents.
The dramatic setting of Laggan Bay has few equals and the ever changing nature of the challenge offered by this acclaimed layout make The Machrie’s Links one to play.
