Spain / Canary Islands
With an outstanding year-round climate, stunning ocean vistas and striking natural terrain, Tenerife is an island that was made to be the home of great golf courses.
Tenerife has the most developed golf offering of all the Canary Islands, and that shows. Nine courses are spread across the island, from the sunny south coast to the green valleys of the north, and together they offer a variety that few island destinations in Europe can match. The centrepiece is the volcanic landscape, dominated by Mount Teide — Spain's highest peak — which provides a dramatic backdrop to almost every round you play on the island.
Abama Golf, designed by Dave Thomas, is the undisputed standout: set high above the coast with views over the Atlantic and La Gomera in the distance. Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf are the most popular courses in the busy south of the island and between them handle much of the tourist golf traffic. Tenerife South Airport has direct flights from airports across Europe, including the Netherlands. The climate is excellent year-round with temperatures rarely straying far from twenty-two degrees.
