If you are planning a trip to the Emerald Isle to play golf and play links courses , no golfing tour of the south-west of Ireland would be complete without a stop at Tralee Golf Club. Situated in the magnificent natural splendor of County Kerry, this truly is an excellent golf course. One of Arnold Palmer’s greatest creations, Tralee offers the complete links golf experience.

The route has an abundance of stunning natural imagery. You will tee off just a few feet from the Atlantic Ocean, whose watery splendour is a natural perimeter around the course. The stone walkways between player and beach are a delight. The high dunes are found at multiple locations along the way, with cavernous bunkers sitting at their feet. In the right kind of light, the whole course just shimmers in front of patrons.

The third hole may well be the most enjoyable feast for the eyes. This 194 yard par three is Tralee’s signature hole. Named “The Castle” due to the presence of ancient ruins of a tower that dates back to 1190, it is yet another wonderful feature of this course. The Castle is located at the back of the green, so it acts as a natural target to aim your tee shot at. It is no bad thing, as you will be so close to the beach that you can hear the waves crash to the shore. Best be careful with the tee shot, or it might find its way into the Atlantic.

There are numerous other golf courses in the region, which combined with the variety of sights and scenes to be found in the town and county, Tralee Golf Club should be considered the cornerstone of any Irish golfing holiday.
