Earl of Thomond

Earl of Thomond is an award-winning restaurant of international renown. Elaborately decorated with oak wainscoting and other formal features it offers a relaxed but elegant dining experience featuring innovative cuisine served with tradition and a hint of creative flair. Every detail is attended to, from the use of locally sourced, quality-assured produce to customized wine recommendations from the sommeliers. A la carte, five-course table d’hôte and vegetarian menus are available.

Fig Tree Restaurant

The Fig Tree Restaurant located in the Golf & Country Club has a beamed ceiling and subtle lighting, with a rich claret wallpaper etched with finely drawn images of architects’ compasses and rulers in soft charcoal. This room will be bright and sunny in the summer, yet warm and rich in the winter. The menu features freshly prepared dishes to suit all palates along with tempting specials of the day. The Fig Tree Restaurant and Bar is open for all day dining with last orders at 9pm.

Afternoon Tea is a long-standing tradition at the Dromoland Castle. Served between the hours of 1pm and 4.30pm daily, guests can enjoy a selection of piping hot teas with a delicious selection of freshly baked pastries and breads. Mrs Whites Afternoon Tea available January – November

Historically a room used to entertain visitors in the O’Brien era, The Drawing room at Dromoland Castle is a cozy retreat with wall covering of opulent Gold and Reds, high ceilings and a magnificent log burning alabaster fireplace. The Drawing room provides the perfect surrounding for guests to enjoy the hospitality of the Castle. On occasion this rooms can be reserved for private use for parties or private dining.

The Gallery

Relax, unwind and sink in the deep luxurious couches whilst in front of an open log fire. The Gallery offers a casual dining option at the Castle, it is the ideal venue for morning coffee and scones or a light snack.

Within the timelessness of these 16th century Castle walls, let yourself be drawn into a world of deep tranquillity. This intimate luxurious spa consists of six treatment rooms, two dedicated manicure and pedicure rooms and a gazebo covered outdoor hydro pool. The Spa has been designed to enhance the peaceful, relaxing ambience. Time will stand still while you are immersed in a cocoon of scented fresh flowers and candles, warm mood lighting and the resonating sounds of soft music. Leaving, you will feel calm, relaxed and most importantly, totally refreshed and invigorated.

Activities :

Set on 450 acres of parkland in the peaceful Clare countryside, the sprawling Estate has much to offer. The gardens, which are based on designs by Andre Le Notre, who also planned the gardens at Versailles, include a formal rose garden and a lily pond dating from 1812. The Castle overlooks Lough Dromoland and is excellent for Trout fishing. Deer, pheasant and other wildlife roam the grounds surrounding the Castle, creating a natural ambience.

Within the Estate, you can also enjoy falconry, archery, boating, clay pigeon shooting, tennis, walking and mountain biking.   The 18-hole championship golf course is a par 72, slope 126, measuring 6845 yards.  The course which was redesigned by Ron Kirby and the late JB Carr is both thoughtful and challenging with many unique features and truly breath-taking scenery.   Dromoland Castle’s Golf course is complemented by a truly unique practice facility which has 10 fully automated Driving Bays, Putting Greens and bunker. All the bays are fitted with Golf-Tech’s second generation fully automated ‘Power Tees’.
