Royal Dublin Golf Club is Ireland’s second oldest golf club. Numerous championship events have been played out on this course, including the Irish Open. The course has an excellent out and back layout. The course has been lengthened by over 400 yards in total and it is now in excess of 7,200 yards. While accurate shot-making is beneficial, skillful course management is integral to doing well at Royal Dublin G.C.

The course is laid out in the old traditional links style and the wind from Dublin Bay adds an extra challenge to the experience. Bull Island, where the course is located, is a bird sanctuary, an area of major scientific importance because of its variety of plant and wildlife. Seve Ballesteros and Bernhard Langer competed here in the Irish Open 1983-1985.

The golf club celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2010, making it the second-oldest golf club in Ireland. Like most older courses, it has undergone serious redevelopment to keep pace with modern players and the distances they hit. The course now plays well over seven thousand yards, meaning nobody can simply breeze through it.
