Carton House - Montgomerie Course

Colin Montgomerie

Carton House is home to two of Ireland’s finest championship golf courses. Located just fourteen miles from Dublin City Centre, it is as accessible as it is stylish. The reputation and pedigree of Carton House can be seen in its regular hosting of the Irish open.
The Montgomerie Course, has gained a reputation as one of Ireland’s toughest golf courses. The inland layout, the Montgomerie plays very much like a links course in that the fairways are rolling, the rough is incredibly tough and there are virtually no trees. Add to the mixture well over 100 exceptionally well-positioned and often cavernous bunkers and you will only begin to appreciate the quality of this course. Though tough, everything about this course is quality and you will need to think your way around it to have any hope of playing to your handicap. This course played host to the Irish Open in 2005.
The Montgomerie course was designed by former Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie, and it really is a course laid out in his image. Laid out in traditional links course fashion, it requires a straight drive from the tee, or a really challenging afternoon awaits you. This is a course that rewards accuracy and punishes erratic play, a style that Montgomerie lives by.
