Hapuna Beach Prince Resort – The Big Island

Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel is nestled in natural bluffs above the sea and overlooks the beautiful white sands of world-class Hapuna Beach. Every oversized, spacious guest room offers ocean and sunset views from private, furnished lanai. The resort offers innovative cuisine, an 18-hole golf course designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, a pool, spa and fitness center, and almost 15,000 square feet of indoor meeting space. And of course there’s the natural beauty of the Kohala Coast itself.

Upon arrival you are greeted by the striking architecture of the hotel’s open-air lobby as your eyes gaze down past the Ocean Terrace restaurant, where the resort’s buffet breakfast and Sunday brunch are served, through terraced gardens to the luxurious pool and Beach Bar, past cabanas and onto gorgeous Hapuna Beach. The hotel’s contemporary, modern style beautifully sets off the palm-filled, manicured gardens and the tropical blues and greens of sky and sea.

Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel completes the dream of respected developer and environmentalist Laurance S. Rockefeller, which was to create a world-class Kohala Coast resort that truly respects and honors its environment. He first created the classic, legendary Mauna Kea Beach Hotel in 1965. Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel opened almost 30 years later to round out the 1800-plus-acre oceanfront Mauna Kea Resort.

Meet up with friends for a drink or casual dinner in the comfortable Coast Grille Lounge or dine on the Coast Grille Terrace, which offers spectacular views and the perfect place to watch the sun set beyond the ocean’s azure horizon.

Ocean Terrace : Enjoy our daily all-you-can-eat Hapuna breakfast buffet, which includes an omelet station, freshly made waffles as well as breakfast meats, potatoes, croissants and other perfect bakery items, a selection of fresh local fruits and juices, and more. A la carte breakfasts are also available.

Beach Bar : In addition to ice cold beer on tap, we offer refreshing tropical smoothies and specialty cocktails including the Ainokea, the Coconut Wireless and the Tropical Itch, as well as the ubiquitous 1953 Mai Tai!

Golf :

With its seemingly endless views and dramatic elevation changes beginning at sea level and rising to 700 feet, Hapuna Golf Course nestles into the rugged desert terrain above the west shore of Hawaii’s Big Island. This Arnold Palmer / Ed Seay golf course is a championship “links-style” design that was built in 1992 and stretches to just under 6,900 yards. The Pacific Ocean serves as the picture perfect backdrop and can be seen from every hole. Teeing off at just under 700 feet of elevation, the signature par 4, 12th hole provides one of the most spectacular panoramic views on Hawaii’s Big Island – including Maui in the distance. Hapuna Golf Course has gained a reputation as a hidden gem and for that reason is always a local favorite. Hapuna’s challenging play and environmental sensitivity make it one of Hawaii’s most unique golf courses.

Hapuna Golf Course is within easy walking distance of Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel with a full range of facilities and services.

Spa :

Hapuna means “spring of life” in Hawaiian. Our Hapuna Spa encompasses rejuvenation and nourishment for everyone. It is a true resting place for travelers seeking bliss and serenity while being pampered. The Hapuna Spa offers a variety of treatments whether pampering a bride before their big day or couples seeking special time to rejuvenate together. From massage and body therapies to skin and hair care, Hapuna Spa will leaves every guest revitalized and ready to enjoy all our island has to offer.

Resort Activities :

Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel has a large, 6,800-square-foot free-form swimming pool, and a whirlpool spa, both overlooking the ocean. Relax in a lounge chair under an umbrella and enjoy a drink and some food from the adjacent Beach Bar when you take a break from swimming laps or playing in the water. The pool is only steps from beautiful white sand Hapuna Beach, known as one of the best beaches in the world. An easily accessible snorkeling area called Turtle Point lets you see plenty of colorful reef fish and, often, sea turtles (the turtles, honu in Hawaiian, are protected by State law, so look but don’t touch!).

Seaside Tennis Club

Guests are invited to make reservations for court times at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel’s Seaside Tennis Club, which has been named one of the Top 5 tennis resorts in the world with its 11 courts right at the ocean’s edge. The Seaside Tennis Club is one of the largest and most highly sought-after tennis experiences in Hawaii and provides many of the same services available at the best private luxury tennis clubs.

The pro shop offers equipment purchase and rental, tennis gear, resort logo and other apparel, racket stringing, individual game-matching and video instruction service. Men’s and women’s locker rooms and ball machines are also available.

Enjoy daily clinics, round robin tourneys and private and group lessons offered by Director of Tennis Craig Pautler, Head Tennis Pro Wayne Barnes and Tennis Pros Hector Mendoza and Dan Klug. After your game, relax in the shade on the club’s comfortable lanai overlooking the sea.
