Set against the stunning backdrop of Galway Bay, The Hawthorn by Galway Bay is proud to offer a championship golf experience that blends world-renowned natural beauty with masterful design and meticulous conditioning. With sweeping sea views across the Wild Atlantic Ocean, The Burren and Galway City, our course promises a golfing experience that will leave you with memories to last a lifetime.

Whether you’re here for a dedicated golf break or simply enjoying a casual round, the experience is open to both guests and members alike.

Galway Bay was designed by local Ryder Cup legend and renowned course architect Christy O’Connor Jnr., who described it as the “jewel in his crown”. Our 18-hole championship course offers views of the wild Atlantic Ocean from every hole – but it isn’t just the scenery that’s breathtaking.

The par-72 layout stretches over 7,300 yards from the back tees, featuring rolling terrain, expansive and intricate green complexes, and immaculate conditioning throughout. Our iconic hawthorn trees will leave you in no doubt as to the prevailing wind, which travels uninterrupted across the Atlantic – ensuring a memorable challenge for golfers of all levels.
