Stanley Bridge Country Resort,  P.E.I. – 4  Star

Stanley Bridge Country Resort & Conference Centre was established through the creativity of our two families. We envisioned a family resort on our twelve acre property overlooking the picturesque Stanley River, New London Bay and the Cavendish Dunes.

The Resort was founded in 1987 with the design and construction of spacious three bedroom open beam cottages with lumber from our own wood lot. Our guests love the warm and inviting atmosphere created by the natural wood. The dream evolved as additional cottages, a heated pool and a lodge were tastefully added over the next few years.

Through comments and inquiries, the need for a conference facility on the North Shore of PEI became evident. In 1997 we proudly introduced our “smoke free” Country Inn and opened new doors for business conferences, motor coach, reunions and beautiful weddings. Our unique country location is the ideal setting for business, pleasure or both!

Captain Daniel Sutherland was well-known for his business of transporting coal from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia to the Sutherlands Wharf in Stanley Bridge, Prince Edward Island in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s Local legend Tommy Gallant also lived in the Sutherland House. Tommy was a well-known fisherman in Stanley Bridge for over 70 years. In 1959, Tommy found the remains of the world’s fastest ship, The Marco Polo. Some even say that saltwater ran in Tommy’s Veins! From 1999 – 2008, the Sutherland house is remembered as Stanley Bridge Antiques and Gift Gallery. Through renovations in 2009, we created a 115 seat casual dining restaurant. Sutherland’s Restaurant provides guest with a warm inviting atmosphere, fresh Island ingredients, and traditional Island Hospitality.
